Child Marriage Prevention

Keep Her in School. Out of Marriage.

In our community, child marriage remains a heartbreaking reality, driven by both poverty and deeply rooted traditions. Girls as young as 12 are forced to leave school and become wives, losing their childhood, education, and future.

We created the Kanya String of Hope program to change that.

Through this initiative, girls at risk of early marriage earn income by making handmade bracelets. This builds their financial independence and helps them contribute to their families. Girls receive income for school and daily needs, with a matching amount saved in a trust they can access at 18 if they stay in school and unmarried.

Your donation fuels this entire process. You help provide materials, mentorship, and the incentive that keeps girls learning, dreaming, and choosing their own futures.

Together, we can make child marriage a thing of the past.

Education Over Marriage. A Future of Her Choosing.

Your contribution invests in girls' education, builds financial independence, and helps break the cycle of poverty.

Story of a girl

In 2018, Happy Kids Center took a significant step in confronting the pervasive issue of child marriage within our community by launching the Kanya String of Hope program. Child marriage remains alarmingly prevalent in South Asia, with this region having the highest rates worldwide. Within our community, this tradition is deeply ingrained, affecting the futures of countless young girls. Shockingly, approximately 45% of girls in this part of the world are married before they reach the age of 18, marking the premature end of their childhood, education, family ties, and often leading to a lifetime of poverty and abuse.
